Chicago, IL, United States (4E) ? The Lollapalooza organizing committee has announced Saturday that the 2013 festival will be held in Tel Aviv, Israel, its third international location ever.
Lollapalooza Israel will be held on August 20-22, 2013 at the Yarkon Park in Tel Aviv, brought by the country?s premier home entertainment and music distributor and publisher NMC United, and the production company Plug Productions Generator.
Marc Geiger of WME Entertainment, a partner of Lollapalooza, LLC, said, ?Israel is an incredibly sophisticated music market. Consumers have a voracious appetite for entertainment, yet there has never been a major music festival. To me, this combination screams Lollapalooza.?
While this is the first time that Israel holds a large-scale international music festival, NMC United and Plug Productions say they are ?thrilled to join the international family of Lollapalooza.? Ilan Elkayam of the Plug Productions Generator said, ?Hosting the festival in Tel Aviv is both an honor and a privilege for us and we are super excited to bring the global and wonderful experience that Lollapalooza is to the people and the city.?
The Lollapalooza Festival started in 1991 when Jane?s Addiction front man Perry Farrell started planning a farewell show for their band. The idea transformed into a ?larger-than-life musical roadshow? that brought together diverse music, people and cultures all over the continent.
